Articles to be nitrogenized are made from iron alloys containing 0,7-2 per cent of carbon, less than 0,5 per cent of aluminium and a total of 0,2-8 per cent of one or more of the elements silicon, manganese, nickel, chromium, copper, molybdenum, tungsten, titanium, and zirconium.
