Abstract
Alloys having a small coefficient of thermal expansion consist of 10-59.99 per cent of cobalt, 5-12 per cent of chromium, 28-70 per cent of iron, and 0.01-30 per cent of nickel, with or without up to a total of 6 per cent of one or more of the elements carbon, tungsten, molybdenum, copper, manganese, titanium, vanadium, aluminium, magnesium, silicon, and boron, each less than 2 per cent. The alloys may be subjected to the heat-treatment described in Specification 405,607.
