Abstract

345,133. Rectilinear-motion bearings. GEIGER, H., 3, Wiesenstrasse, Bad Soden, Taunus, Germany. April 23, 1930, No. 12524. [Class 12 (i).] A bearing for a tapered sluice valve 1 comprises a series of part spherical rollers 3 turning on pins 2 secured in bosses 107 on the valve member, and working in cylindrical bores 6 running parallel to the axis of the valve member. On one side of the valve a further series of rollers 4 are arranged to turn on axis transverse to the plane of the valve member to take its weight when it is used in an inclined position. The rollers 3 are unequally spaced and recesses 8 are provided in the guideways arranged so that when the valve is in its closed position the valve member is free to engage its seat.
