Abstract

337,322. Bowler, T. Feb. 19, 1930. Seats and faces ; repairs, facilitating. - A tubular valve seating 10 is held in contact with the dividing wall of the valve casing by means within the seating, such as a flanged bushing 16 threaded in the dividing wall, so that the seating adjusts itself laterally, by sliding, into alignment with the valve 8, and may expand. The ends of the seating are chamfered at their inner edges 15 so that the seating is reversible. The valve shown is in the form of a ball 8 secured by claws 7 to a carrier on the valve spindle 6. A simpler and shorter form of seating is also shown but this is not adapted for reversibility. In each case ribs 17 are provided within the bushing 16 by means of which it can be screwed into position or removed.
