Sluice valves. - A sliding valve of the kind provided with two valve faces adapted to be eased from their seats before the valve member is lifted has roller bearings arranged between the guiding surfaces. The bearings comprise a series of rollers k rotatably mounted on shafts l themselves rotatably mounted in cases i. The cases, which have one side closed, are mounted on the valve members a or their holders so that axial displacement of the shafts is prevented. In the forms shown the valve members are wedged to their seats by a screw c actuated by an arm d. The bearing may be arranged on the guide member g.
