344,240. Spinning-spindle apparatus. PAUL, M., Waidhofen, Ybbs, Austria. March 18, 1930, No. 8721. Convention date, March 20, 1929. [Class 120 (ii).] Eddy current brakes for bobbins of spinning and doubling machines have their braking effect adjusted by varying the position of the magnetic poles relative to the brake disc. The brake disc f rotates between the poles g, g<1> of one or more electromagnets. The braking effect is varied by displacing the poles so that the area of overlap between the poles and the disc is altered, or when several magnets are used, by altering the angle alpha between them. The braking effect may also be varied by adjusting the pole gap. Each method of adjustment may be used alone or in conjunction with any other method, e.g. varying the current intensity in the exciter coil.
