Spindle apparatus.-In drag arrangements for spinning, twisting, and like machines a sleeve 4 positively connected with the bobbin and journaled in a supporting rail 7 is unitary with a disc 9 orthe like of non-ferrous material having at least a portion rotatable between the poles 10 of a permanent magnet or electromagnet. The magneticflux may be varied by adjusting the pole-pieces, or, in the case of an electromagnet, by varying the current.
