Abstract
485,697. Drawing-mechanism for preparing and spinning machines. DEVAUX, P. Feb. 18, 1937, No. 4931. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1936. [Class 120 (ii)] In drawing-mechanism for preparing and spinning machines wherein rollers arranged close to the nip of the front rollers are driven magnetically, one or more of the rollers consist of a permanent magnet or electromagnet. The roller 10 may be in one piece or may consist of a sleeve-shaped magnet keyed or loose upon an axle, and is driven by a shaft 40 of diameter the same as the normal rollers. The shaft 40 and magnet 10 may be smooth, or of fluted or like form. The rollers 10, 11 are preferably of a length to serve two spindles and are carried by forked members 18 adjustably secured to the cap bars. The roller 11 may be of magnetic material if considerable pressure is desired, or of non-magnetic material or covered with insulating material of nature or thickness in accordance with the desired lesser pressure. Relative speeds may be ensured between the roller 10 and the preceding roller by suitably choosing the sizes of the contact surfaces of them as in the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, wherein the roller 10a is also a magnet.
