Magnetic instruments.-The reed or diaphragm C of a sound-reproducing device is provided with one or more armatures B which move longitudinally, in one or more solenoids A, solely under the dynamic influence exerted by the solenoids, i.e. the solenoids are not provided with iron cores or other magnetic parts between which and the armature attraction or repulsion might occur. A steady flux may be maintained by an auxiliary solenoid E, adjustable relative to the solenoid A, Fig. 2. The Provisional Specification states that a permanent or electromagnet acting upon the armature at either or both ends may be employed.
