[Class 35.] An electromagnet is formed with a short straight core to which polepieces are attached. Fig. 4 shows such a magnet in section, the core 1 being of parallelopiped shape and the polepieces 2, 3 secured to it by a non-magnetic bolt 4 passing through the whole. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement of two such magnets stated to be useful in electric reproducers for gramophones, loud-speakers, &c.
