Abstract

387,345. Bobbin drag arrangements. LOW & CO., Ltd., J. F. and HARGROVE, J., Monifieth Foundry, Angus. Aug. 1, 1931, No. 21961. [Class 120 (ii).] In eddy-current brakes for the bobbins of spinning and like textile frames, the brake disc rotates in a gap formed between an upper annular polepiece concentric with the spindle, and lower polepieces presented by electromagnetic cores. The spindle I to which the bobbin is mechanically coupled carries a brake disc 7 of non-ferrous metal, which may have air vanes attached. The upper annular polepiece 8 is preferably secured to the under-side of the spindle rail 6. The lower poles 9 are mounted in a base 11, and the whole enclosed by a wall 12.
