[Class 131.] A device for waving and setting the hair comprises a grip or clasp a, Figs. 1 and 6, adapted to receive and hold a lock of hair and a wire or like loop b pivoted thereto at or adjacent one end thereof, the loop having spaced parallel limbs which, when the device is closed, lie in a plane spaced from but substantially parallel to the grip or clasp, so that hair held in the grip or clasp is sharply bent or cranked on each side thereof. The grip a is formed from a resilient steel strip which is bent upon itself to form two parallel curved limbs connected by a loop c, and to facilitate opening one limb is made slightly shorter than the other and is provided with an upturned end d. The loop c engages a reduced central part of a tubular hinge pin f, and the free ends of the loop b are cranked upwardly and bent around to form eyes e encircling the reduced ends of the hinge pin which are riveted or spun over to retain the eyes. The closed end of the loop b is bent upwardly and the sides of the upwardly bent portion are set in to form a jaw g, Fig. 3, into which the free ends of the grip a are forced to hold the parts closed. In a modification, the free ends of the loop b are cranked inwardly and enter axial opening in the ends of the hinge pin.
