Abstract

358,434. Strap fastenings. STATHAM, N., 111, North Broadway, Irvingtonon-Hudson, New York, U.S.A. July 2, 1930, No. 20083. [Class 44.] A strap fastening comprises a series of stops on the free end of the strap and a catch on the fixed end of the strap. The stops 23, Figs. 3 and 5, are riveted to the strap and the upturned side pieces 25 slide in channels 16, 17 in the catch 14, Fig. 1. After the strap is tightened subsequent loosening is prevented by the catch tongue 20 engaging abutments 27 on the stops. In the modifications shown in Figs. 12 and 13 the stops 51 are secured to a supporting tape 42 by bending over their ends 53. The catch, Fig. 16, comprises a body 61 with channels on its under surface for engaging the edges of the stops. A leaf spring 63 which normally engages between the narrowed centre portions of the stops is disengaged by rotation of a wedge-shaped member 64. In the modification shown in Fig. 30 the stops are formed of lengths of wire bent over a cord 101, and the catch has a pivoted tongue 83. In an alternative construction, Fig. 42, the stops are formed by a flattened coil of wire 174.
