Abstract

343,542. Heating water by electricity. MASCARINI, G., 21, Via S. Antonio, Milan, Italy. Nov. 15, 1929, No. 34936. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1928. [Class 39 (iii).] In a boiler provided with concentric electrodes 2, 3 separated by an adjustable insulating sleeve 16, the adjustment is effected by screw and nut mechanism. The sleeves 16 are mounted in an internally screw-threaded member 14 engaging a screwed spindle 11 fitted with a hand-wheel 17. The member 14 is prevented from rotating by an arm 15 engaging one of a number of rods 9 supporting the electrodes 3. The electrodes 2 are supported by current carrying rods 5 surrounded by insulating tubes 18. Slots 8 are provided in the electrodes 3.
