Abstract
563,049. Electric water heaters. RUSH, H. A. Dec. 28, 1942, No. 18386. [Class 39 (iii)] An electrode element for heating water, e.g. in a radiator, comprises an insulating plug 12 threaded into the radiator shell 10, which carries an electrode 15 within a tubular electrode 17 mounted on a projection 16 of the plug. The electrode 17 is slotted at 24 to promote circulation. The electrodes are made of an iron alloy which is non-magnetic and contains the iron in austenitic form, e.g. an iron alloy containing carbon over .08 per cent, chromium 16-26 per cent ; and nickel 8-21 per cent. The current supply may be controlled by a thermostat in the upper part of the radiator.
