Heating by electricity.-Electric steam boilers, and water or other liquid heaters having one or more electrodes are constructed with a division plate on which is supported tubes into which the electrodes project, provision being made for a continuous supply of water or other liquid to the tubes, the liquid overflowing back into the main water chamber. Upon the perforated plate 6 are supported tubes 9 of porcelain, quartz, or other insulating material to which water is supplied by a pump 23 through pipes 27, 28. Into the tubes 9 project upper electrodes 11 and lower adjustable electrodes 13, the adjustment being by rack and pinion 16, 17, and means for locking the handwheel 20 being provided.
