Refrigerating, absorption machines and processes for.-In the continuous-cycle system described in the parent Specification, wherein the generation of gas from the rich liquor flowing through a pipe T to the generator K effects the circulation of the liquor, the pipe. T is directly heated by the heating-means of the generator, while the main bodv of liquor in the generator may be partly insulated from the heating-means. The generator may be heated by a gas burner 1, Fig. 1, the pipe T being coiled about the central flue 2 for the hot products of combustion, or an electric heating element 3 may be arranged in a central flue. A sleeve of heat-insulating material may be, fitted around the coil T, or the coil may be situated within the flue. In another arrangement, the strong liquor may flow from the pipe P, Fig. 2, into a chamber 4 in the generator having a straight riser pipe 5, an electric heating unit 3 being fitted in the chamber 4. The gas generated in the chamber 4 periodically forces a column of liquid up the pipe 5. In a further arrangement, an electric heating-element is fitted around the lower part of a straight pipe conveying the strong liquor, so as to heat the pipe as well as the main body of liquor. The heating-element may, however, be surrounded by insulation to impede the beating of the main body of liquid. Specification 212,5721 is referred to.
