Abstract

257,576. Barry, B. June 25, 1926. Heating by electricity.-A water-heating chamber 1 having inflow and outflow connections and heating elements arranged in open-ended containers 5 is provided at one end with a removable cap 10 and at the other end with an insulating block 15 through which the supply heads pass to the elements, the latter being detachably connected together at the cap end and easily withdrawable. The heating elements comprise flat nichrome wires wound on mica strips 16 situated between further mica strips clamped together at the ends by metal bands. The elements are connected together at one end by metal plates 20 insulated from the end wall 4 by mica and asbestos strips 26, and are connected at the other end to terminals 25 mounted on an insulating members 15. Asbestos and mica washers 13, 12 are fitted under the cap 10.
