Abstract

266,151. General Electric Co., Ltd., Kinnes, A., and Hunt, M. S. H. March 18,1926. Heating by electricity.- An electric heater, adapted to be screwed into an opening in a water tank &c., consists of a wire threaded through insulating beads and enclosed in a copper or like tube, which may bear radiating fins &c., the ends of the wire being connected to terminals through thicker extension pieces. The beads 2 may be made with interfitting spigot-like ends. The wire 1 and beads 2 are threaded through a tube 3 which is then bent into a helix. The ends of the wire are fitted into the bored ends of extension pieces 6, which are then swaged to secure the wire in position. The pieces 8 pass through beads 22 in tubes 7 secured to a screw cap 9 which carries terminals 11, the whole being provided with an insulating cover 17.
