Abstract

327,241. Reliance Manufacturing Co. (Broughton), Ltd., and Foy, F. Feb. 16, 1929. Wire resistances. - The core a of an electric heating element has two or more undercut slots h, Fig. 3, moulded or formed in its end, each slot being adapted to receive the head of a terminal bolt j, or nut, and so arranged that the overhanging edges of the recess provide a clamping surface for securing the bolt in the recess. The bolts j may be shaped to act as pins fitting a socket or may be provided with nuts formed to receive the pins of a plug. The core a is hollow and contains an iron rod or tube o of relatively large diameter fitting loosely therein, which serves as a return conductor and also as a heat-retaining body. The element is sealed in a metal tube p lined with a mica sleeve q, and is adapted for use in water-heating apparatus.
