456,455. Electric immersion heaters. BERRY, H. H., 85, Newman Street, Oxford Street, London. May 22, 1935, No. 14955. [Class 39 (iii)] The heating wire is arranged in longitudinal passages 6 in curved refractory segments 5 arranged end to end in two or more sheaths lying around a cylindrical space with their longitudinal edges spaced apart to form slots 18. The slots may be closed over part of their length by metal strips or heat insulated metal ends. The sheaths are screw threaded at the top to receive a thermostat and to enable the heater to be mounted vertically in a tank. Each row of segments 5 is held to the terminal block 4 by a strap passing around the segments and secured at its ends by screws 13.
