Abstract

333,128. McLeod, L. M. Dec. 2, 1929. Heating by electricity.-A lidless jug, mug, pot, or the like of' insulating material has an apertured integral top plate 11 from which the heating element is suspended, and the plug connection 15 for the element is adapted to close completely the aperture. The heating element comprises grooved plates 25 carrying resistances 27 and mechanically and electrically interconnected by a metal rod 30. The resistance wires are retained in the grooves by split pins. Alternatively the plates may be in the form of a hollow cylinder or the heating element may be replaced by electrodes. The plug, Fig. 1, is formed by flat plates secured together by screws and carrying spring terminals 37. It beds on to a seating formed on the spout.. In Fig. 6 the plug is shaped to fit the spout.
