[Class 39 (iii).] In a heater, Fig. 2, comprising a plurality of hollow units A through which the water flows in succession alternating with heating elements h, each hollow unit is provided internally with baffles d<1>, Fig. 3, projecting inwardly from the sides of the unit to form a sinuous water path therein. The joints between adjacent units are made by means of lead washers e, Fig. 5. The heating elements are wound on porcelain or mica formers and are carried by enclosing frames of fibre or compressed asbestos. Bolts f passing through lugs d on the units A hold the assembly together. Mica sheets are arranged between the units and the heating element frames so that the element enclosure is substantially air-tight. The spindle n of the outlet tap and the control switch l or o are interconnected.
