Abstract
261,215. Ewart, J. H. Jan. 12, 1926. Heating by electricity.-In a water-heater comprising a tank from the bottom of which a number of tubular guides containing electric heating element projects upwards into the water, the heating elements are wound on formers carrying plugs which can be inserted into sockets on the base of the heater; two or more elements may also be inserted in each guide. In the arrangement shown each guide f contains two heating elements consisting of a wire k wound on a hollow-core carrying plugs r, s at its upper end and sockets m, n at its lower. In the sockets m, n of the lower element are inserted bent plugs p, q the other ends of which engage with sockets h, i on an in. sulating slab j on the base of the heater. The sockets m, n are so connected with the plugs r, s that the elements in each guide are connected in parallel, and the elements in the several guides are connected in series and parallel in groups.
