Electric radiators.- Heat-radiating elements 19 are connected to a boiler 10 provided with a float 25 carrying electrodes for generating steam by passage of current through the water in the boiler. The boiler is surrounded by a casing 16 through which air circulates, and comprises corrugated side and end walls integral with a bottom plate 12. The radiating elements are mounted on the cover plate 13 by means of nipples 18 and tubular collars 17. The float is provided with a filling aperture 27 so that its buoyancy may be varied. A pipe 23 passing through a central aperture in the float and the cover plate serves to return the condensed steam. A pair of electrodes is mounted at each end of the float. They project though holes in the cover plate into the radiating elements and each pair comprises hollow concentric cylinders 28, 29 separated by an insulating washer 30, Fig. 6. The inner electrodes are perforated and fitted at their lower ends with perforated plugs 31. The current supply leads 38 are connected to bars 35 mounted on the top of the boiler. Resilient conductors 37 secured to these bars are also connected to the float and a conductor 39 connecting the inner electrodes. The float is insulated from the boiler by porcelain end frames 33 mounted therein. In a modification the radiating elements are arranged vertically.
