[Class 99 (i).] A non - ferrous aluminium alloy coupling piece 1 has a tapered spigot 4 engaging the flared end of the pipe 2 and connected thereto by bolts 8 and a loose flange 7 ; the coupling member and flange have a coefficient of expansion approximating to that of the metal of the pipe. The flange is formed so as partly to engage the cylindrical surface of the pipe.
