Abstract

341,235. Fuel pumps for internalcombustion engines. BENES, J., 404, Bubelova, Vsetin, Czecho- Slovakia. Dec. 16, 1929, No. 38452. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel pump of the kind comprising a piston a having axial and radial passages b, c and working in a cylinder e provided with radial inlet ports g controlled by the piston, the end of the injection period being regulated by a sleeve which controls the opening of the passage b, the sleeve is arranged to be moved by the piston during its strokes until it is arrested by a fixed stop n and an adjustable stop l<1> carried by a sleeve l. By this arrangement, fuel enters the barrel d during the whole suction stroke, first through the passages b, c, and then through the ports g. The sleeve l may be adjusted axially for the purpose of varying the end of injection by means of a rack m engaging teeth l<2> on the sleeve, which has a screw-threaded engagement l<3> with the pump casing. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the piston is fixed and the cylinder e reciprocates, the sleeve being moved in one direction by an axially-adjustable sleeve l on the cylinder engaging pins j<1>, and in the other direction by heads r<1> on rods r carried by the cylinder.
