Abstract

340,263. Revolving-cylinder engines. ANDERSON, H. P. H., 62, Elgar Avenue, Tolworth, and PETERSEN, R. J., The Lea, Esher, both in Surrey. June 21, 1929, No. 5919/30. Divided on 325,556, [Class 122 (iii), Steam engines, Kinds &c.]. [Classes 122 (ii) and 122 (iv).] In a radialcylinder engine of the type in which the cylinder block 11 revolves on a distributing valve 1 and the reciprocating pistons engage a surrounding eccentric track, the valve is divided by a web 2 into inlet and exhaust compartments. The inlet port is formed by a gap 10 between the web 2 and a movable segment 8, carried by arms 9 on a rotatable spindle 6. Rotation of the spindle 6 to reverse the valve automatically closes the gap 10 and opens a corresponding gap at the other end of the segment.
