Abstract
337,441. Lane, J. C. July 2, 1929. Bedsteads convertible into seats; rests, leg.-In chairs or settees having leg rests or pivoted seat backs which in the extended form are supported on pairs of pivoted legs, a cross bar of rhomboidal or trapezoidal cross section is provided so that in the operative position with the legs slightly inclined a face of the cross bar bears against the main frame. The side frames A of a leg rest or seat back are joined by the frame B and legs D, pivoted at C, carry a cross bar E which in the operative position bears against the frames A, B. Additional cross bars F may be provided. The side members L of the seat frame may carry wooden beams M to which are secured dropped metal bars N carrying springs P the apices of which are cross-stayed by wires R. The springs are covered by a light mesh S carried by a wire boundary member T, secured to the beams M.
