Optical apparatus.-In optically recording sound on a translucent record provision is made for monitoring whereby reproduction is effected from the sound-influenced beam passing through the film and the width of the slit employed can be observed. The sound-influenced beam passing through the gate 1 to make the record on the film 2, passes forward and is focussed by a lens 3 on a cell 4 for direct reproduction by a telephone connected in circuit therewith. The width of the slit can be observed' by inserting a prism 7 or a mirror in the beam. and a scale can be embodied to measure the width.
