Abstract

309,930. Neale, J. Dec. 16, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Optical apparatus.- A device for recording or transmitting sound by means of an acoustically -influenced beam of light comprises two parallel diaphragms A, B between which the light is passed, the diaphragms having opposed projections E which move laterally across the beam. The diaphragms are mounted in a casing closed at the back and having a sound-receiving portion H. The light passes through diametrically opposed apertures (not shown) having transparent covers, and on emerging falls on a recording film or on lightsensitive members of a Wheatstone bridge device, in conjunction with which a loud-speaker may be used. Specifications 284,942 and 307,086, [both in Class 40 (iii), Telegraphs, Electric], are referred to.
