Abstract
367,591. Optical sound-reproducing apparatus. PATHE CINEMA, ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS PATHE FR—RES, 6, Rue Francoeur, Paris. March 14, 1931, No. 7939. Convention date, March 31, 1930. [Class 40 (ii).] In the reproduction of sound by a light beam directed through a photographic record on to a light-sensitive cell, provision is made for compensating automatically in the output circuit for fluctuations in the light source whether energized by an electric current or pressure gas. As shown, light from a source 1 is directed by a prism 12 and lens 6 through a photographic sound record 3 on to a lightsensitive cell 5 connected through an amplifier 8 to a speaker 9, and compensation for fluctuations in the source 1 is effected by connecting a light-sensitive resistance 10 in a shunt circuit from the cell 5 and subjecting this resistance to a beam from the source 1 directed through a prism 13. If desired the resistance 10 may be influenced from a separate source of light energized from the same electric or gas supply as the source 1, and an adjustable screen 11 of graduated opacity may be inserted in the path of the beam to the resistance 10 and adjusted to produce a minimum damping effect, subject to satisfactory compensation, on the output circuit of the cell 5.
