Abstract

Wire resistances. - An electric resistance forming part of protective equipment for small outdoor transformer stations in an electric supply system is enclosed in a casing provided with corona shields. The resistance consists of a wire 20 wound on a hollow core 10 in an insulating casing 11. The ends of the w i r e are brought through the walls of the tube 10 and are secured to clamps 24, 25 connected to metal caps 12, 13 on the ends of the casing 11. The upper cap 12 is bolted to a ring 28 cemented to the end of the casing 11 and provided with a flaring skirt 30 serving as a corona shield. The outer-edge 41 of the cap 12 over-hangs the edge of the ring 28 and the cap is spaced from the ring by ribs 37 so as to form ventilating openings, which are protected by a screen 43. The lower cap 13 is bolted to and spaced from a ring 29 and provided with ventilating openings protected by a screen 48.
