Rotary drums.-In a rotary drum drier of the kind in which the material passes between an outer drum b and an inner perforated drum a, the hot gases which are supplied through the inner pipe c are withdrawn by a fan g located in an intermediate position, so that the material is first dried by the gases in co-current, and secondly in counter-current. The drum is surrounded by a chamber f in which the fan is located and the drum b is cut away or perforated at this point. Blades o, p, r for agitating and forwarding the material are secured to the drums a, b. The ports q in the supply pipe are controlled by shutters k.
