414,015. Rotary drying -apparatus. QUESTER, E., 141, W³llnerstrasse, Lindenthal, Cologne, Germany. April 16, 1934, No. 11474. Convention date, June 6, 1933. [Class 34 (ii).] In the drying of materials, for example tobacco, by means of heating tubes in a rotary drum, burning of the material is avoided by covering each set of tubes b upon their sides lying in the direction of rotation of the drum with sheets of copper c extending the whole length of the drum. On their rear sides the tubes may be left exposed or may be covered with perforated sheets d through which heat radiation can take place. The covering plates may be spaced from the tubes by heat-insulating material.
