Air, controlling direction of flow of. - The material to be dried is fed into an enclosed trough in which rotates a reel of heating tubes, the trough being provided with pipes 8, Fig. 1, or formed with openings 8<a>, Fig. 4, communicating with the exhaust vapour space 2 located beneath the trough. Cold air may be drawn through tubes located in the space 2 and preheated by exhaust air before passing into the trough. The exhaust vapour space may be replaced by tubes placed either beneath or at the sides of the trough. Specification 4486/15 is referred to.
