Abstract

844,630. Hollow rollers. HOT OIL HEATER CO. Inc. Nov. 30, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 36686/56. Class 34(1) A roll for heating, drying or cooling paper &c. comprises an inner drum 51 having re-entrant ends connected by tubes 54, 55 and apertures 58, 59 disposed between partition 50, 57. Oil for heating or cooling the roll is supplied through a pipe 47 to the space between the partitions and issues through the apertures into the annular spaces between the roll and the drum on either side of a ring 56. From these spaces the oil flows into the chambers formed by the re-entrant ends and thence through the space around the pipe 47 to exhaust. The oil flow through the roll may be reversed by means of a reversing valve 68.
