Planes, construction of; planes connecting together and to machine.-A strut or tie for supporting an aircraft wing structure from without comprises an external part and a plurality of internal parts all engaging the external part (for example at a common point) within the structure, the free ends of the internal parts being connected to the interior of the structure at distributed points. In the example shown a, wing structure is built up of seven spars 10 each comprising an upper and lower boom spaced round the periphery of the wing. To each upper boom a member 11 is secured and these have their lower ends brought together in two groups as shown and connected to external strut members 12 and 13 which are anchored to the fuselage at 14, or, in the case of a biplane structure, to similar internal bracing members within the lower wing: the lower plane may, in turn, be similarly supported. Alternatively in a very light structure all the internal members may be grouped together and a single external strut used. Each of the internal members 11 may be secured to the wing structure at more, than one point. Specification 309,110 is referred to.
