Abstract

844,519. Annular wing aircraft. ZBOROWSKI, H. P. G. A. R. VON June 17,1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 19328/68. Class 4. In an aircraft having an annular wing 1, nacelle 3 and propulsion unit 2, the upper and lower wing chords L 1 , L 2 are cambered in the same direction in planes of symmetry parallel to a vertical plane passing through the axis XY, preferably from a maximum camber in the vertical plane through XY to a minimum or zero camber in the horizontal XY plane. By this arrangement the axis of the wing may be maintained at zero incidence to the line of flight. As in Fig. 16, the wing and central nacelle, which may house aircrew as well as a propulsion unit, are connected by faired struts 14 extended at 12 outside the wing to support nacelles 11 which provide passenger accommodation and house elements of the undercarriage to be extended when the aircraft is in a vertical take-off attitude.
