Self-filling reservoir pens. -In a sac self-filling reservoir pen of the kind in which the sac is deflated by reciprocation in the rear end of the barrel by a plunger acting to bend a spring connected to the presser-bar, the plunger is actuated by rotation of an external knob permanently associated with a detachable end cap and connected to a second plunger in such a way as to impart thereto a longitudinal movement. As shown, the operating-knob g is connected to a stem f passing through an aperture in the end cap e and formed at its inner end as a hollow member adapted to house the second plunger h. The plunger h is provided with a pin j passing through helical slots in the hollow stem into longitudinal slots in the cap e, so that it is reciprocated to depress the plunger d connected to the swing c when the knob is rotated. The pitch of the helical slots is such that the parts can return to normal position under the influence of the spring c. In a modification, the plunger is hollow and is formed with helical slots engaged by a pin in the stem, and with projections engaging the longitudinal slots in the end cap, and in a further modification, the hollow plunger is provided with a pin engaging a helical slot in the stem and with a longitudinal slot engaged by a pin in the end cap; alternatively, the stem and plunger may be connected by screw threads.
