Class 146(3) A presser-bar and leaf-spring assembly, for a fountain pen of the kind in which the presser bar is actuated by longitudinal pressure applied to the leaf spring to cause the spring to assume an arcuate shape and thereby cause the presser-bar to deflate a resilient sac, is characterized in that the point of connection between, the spring and presser-bar is displaced towards one end of the presser-bar so as to produce a progressive closing movement of the presser-bar on to the sac from the rear to the front end. As shown, the presserbar has tongues 2a which are bent over and closed on to the springs. The sac 4 is deflated by rotation of a cap 5 secured to a threaded rod 25 screwed into a plunger 10 non-rotatably but slidably mounted in a hexagonally shaped part of the barrel 1. The rear end of the spring 3 engages in a recess in the front end of the plunger 10.
