328,402. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., Paull, W. H., and Bond, W. de la R. March 22, 1929. Joints with yielding outer part compressed. - A pipe joint for road mains comprises a flexible sleeve 5 which is secured by clamps 6, 7 to the spaced pipe ends 1, 2, and a rigid member 10, wholly or rubberized fabric with or sleeve. The sleeve may be of rubber, rubber composition or rubberized fabric with or without metallic wire reinforcement, and is preferably moulded to conform to the shape of the pipa ends. The shield 10 may be a metal tube in one or more parts secured by bolts 12, or it may be of brick or concrete, and may comprise half a tube with its ends bearing on the pipe ends.
