Smoke-tube superheaters.- In a superheater having elements 6 placed in the. smoke tubes 3 of a return-tube boiler and connected to headers 7 in the smoke-box, the upper elements extend into the combustion chamber 1, and the elements in each vertical row decrease in length from top to bottom of the superheater. The lower elements may terminates within the smoke tubes or they also may extend into the combustion chamber.
