Abstract
327,334. Holland, R. June 5, 1929. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor is provided with main and slow-running mixing-chambers d, e communicating with a common air inlet chamber o and provided with interconnected throttle valves f, g, the chambers d, e containing respectively fuel nozzles d<1>, e<1> supplied through passages b, c and fuel pipes d<3>, c<3> from a common float chamber, aerating air being admitted through tangential passages d<6>, e6, to chambers d<4>, e<4> surrounding the outlets of the fuel pipes. d<3>, e<3>, and the chambers d<4>, e<4> being provided with tubular extensions d<5>, e<5> opening into the mixing-chambers d, e on the engine side of the chokes d<2>, e<2>. The fuel pipes d<3>, e<3> are adjustably screwed into the nozzles d<1>, e<1>, which in turn are adjustably screwed into the base l. The throttle valves f, g are mounted on spindles f<1>, g', each carrying an arm pivoted to a common control lever which is adapted to spring about the end of the arm on the spindle f<1> for opening- the throttle g, but which when the throttle g is fully open, swing about the end of the arm on the spindle g<1> to operate the throttle f. The passage through the choke e<2> may be closed at starting by a manually-operated sleeve k sliding on the nozzle e<1>. Air from the chamber o, in addition to passing through the choke d<2>, d<3>, may be admitted to the mixing-cham. bers d, e through tubes v, Fig. 5, open at the bottom and provided with outlets controlled by slots w<1> in adjustable caps w, the tubes v being mounted in a plate p, Figs. 3 and 5, provided with a rim p<1> forming a space s communicating through notches t' with the mixing- chambers d, e. The upper ends of the caps w are accessible from the outside of the carburettor for adjustment purposes.
