326,110. Runge, E., and Mikron Ges. June 10, 1929. Hand grips to facilitate wheeling; steering- mechanism.-A bicycle is pushed and steered by means of a handle arranged behind the saddle. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the pushing handle 1 is slidably mounted in a sleeve 3, so that it can be raised to the position shown in dotted lines for use. For steering, the handle 1 is rotated, thereby rotating the sleeve 3, the movement being transmitted to the steering-stem 7 by means of a chain or belt 5 and pulleys 4, 6. In a modification, the handle is supported in the saddle pin so as to project horizontally to the rear, and is adapted to be rotated about its longitudinal axis to effect steering movements through a Bowden wire transmission connected to a pulley on the steering-stem. In a further modification, the handle is pivoted so that it can be folded downwards, in order not to hamper mounting and dismounting.
