Abstract

Combined with and convertible into golf sticks; handles, ferrules, or tips.-A golf club shaft may be converted into a walking- stick by means of interchangeable parts, a three-piece coupling being used for joining, of which one threaded portion with a square tapered recess is fixed to the stem, a second portion fixed to the shaft fits into the said recess and is locked by the third portion, a collar which screws on to the first portion and has a shoulder to tighten on the second. The shaft 1 is shaped at its lower end and held by screws in the socket 14, Fig. 2, the lower end of which has a shoulder 13 and a square sectioned tapered piece 12 which fits into a similarly tapered recess 7 in the screwed top of the club head 2. The third portion, the collar 17, screws on to the head 2 at 6, its shoulder abutting against that of the socket at 13. A similar coupling is fitted at the top of the shaft by which an extension piece or a walking-stick handle may be fitted, Figs. 2 and 4. In the walking- stick the ferrule 25, Figs. 4 and 11, is made integral with the thread 6a, while for woodenheaded golf clubs the stem of the head is held in the socket 10 by screws 11, Fig. 13. The third portion has a hole for engagement with a pin 23 of a key 24, Fig. 23, which has a hexagonal hole to engage a hexagon which may be formed on the flange 13a of the ferrule. -
