Abstract

Tips. - The end 1, Fig. 1, of a crutch, cane, &c. entering the socket 2 of a rubber tip, rests on the flattened head of a metallic shank 4 surrounded at its base by a textile plug 3. The shank, when worn, is easily replaceable. In a modification, Fig. 3, a textile plug 8 extends from the ground level to the base of the socket, and the metallic shank is dispensed with, while the concave base is formed with annular grooves 9. Another form of tip has a plain socket and deep suction-cup with bevelled edges, or with a number of smaller suction-cups.
