Abstract

Sept. 25, 1928, Plug cocks; rotary cylindrical valves.-A fluid control rotary plug cock for rock-drills and like percussive tools is operated by a key-handle 17, 18 which is separate from the plug 13, as shown, and has an external handle portion 17 and an integral internal conical portion 18 retained within the casing against removal therefrom. In the form shown the conical portion 18 provides a frictional resistance surface which, under the action of fluid pressure, tends to prevent rotation of the plug by vibration. An arrangement with a cylindrical valve is shown, as also are other conical plug cocks in which the plug itself forms the frictional surface, in which case the cone member 18 may be replaced by a flange retained within the casing.
