Dynamometers with reccording apparatus. - A portable spring dynamometer is provided with recording apparatus to obtain a continuous record of the tension in running yarns and the like. A portable frame member 1 carries a pair of pulleys 10 mounted on fixed pivots and also supports a rod 6 movable against the action of a spring 8 and terminating in a third pulley 11. A stylus 13 in the rod co-operates with a record drum 14, carried by and rotatably mounted with respect to the frame, to record variations in the tension of the yarn 12 removably carried by the three pulleys. The drum is driven by clockwork mechanism 16, which includes an eccentric weight 18 carried by an air brake 17 for the purpose of setting up vibrations in the instrument in order to render the instrument sensitive to large and rapid fluctuations in tension.
