Abstract

521,101. Height-measuring apparatus. MARTENS, W. Nov. 7, 1938, No. 32291. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1937. [Class 106 (ii)] [Also in Group XVIII] In a personal weighing and height-measuring machine the weight reading arrangements are operatively connected to a pull member which can be drawn down upon the person's head to bring the weight reading to the level of the eye adjacent to the height reading. As shown, the weight on the platform b sets a rotatable pointer (not shown) over a fixed transparent weight scale l, and a reproduction of the reading is projected by a light source m and reflector j on to a transparent plate e viewed through a glass front c. The reflector j is carried by a slide k which is lowered by means of a cord n when a plate d is drawn on to the person's head. The slide k also carries a spring roller g on which is coiled a transparent strip f graduated to indicate the height of the person. An illuminating device h is arranged behind the strip so as to cause the height reading to appear on the plate e above the weight reading.
